Dark Horse - Championship Round

  • MetroRock Climbing Center

It is here!!! THE CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND!! It all comes down to this, train hard and get ready for the greatest competition on earth. This year we're doing things a bit differently for the pros, since it's the Championship Round and all.

First off, instead of a qualifying round on the same day as the finals, the Pros (Open Category) will be going at it on Friday night in a Redpoint Format Qualifying round. It is here that we will see who moves on to prove themselves on the big stage Saturday night and take the title of Dark Horse Champion!

Second, the DH Championship Round is now a part of the Bouldering National Cup Series brought to you by USA Climbing. This will be the third stop out of four on the tour and the last local comp before Bouldering Open Nationals in Salt Lake City, UT! USAC will be putting up a $10,000 prize purse on top of the MetroRock cash making this one of the largest payouts of any US bouldering competition! This will also work as a ranking system for pro climbers so it's bound to bring out the best of the best.

What does this mean for the mere mortals? It means you get to watch two sick-nasty rounds of professional climbing glory. More info will be finalized as the big weekend approaches. Stay tuned...
